Who is Right Hand Design?

Robyn Harper is Right Hand Design. That's me below. I like to create custom websites for small businesses who want to project a professional image to their online clients.

A good website design needs a whole lot more than pretty pictures. It needs structure, logic and well-written content.
My aim is to build you a website that not only looks professional but truly contributes to your business success.

Robyn Harper

  • 5Stitches Website Redesign
    Type:
    Shopify store
    Year:
    2016
    URL:
    5stitches.com

5Stitches produce unique hand-stitched greeting cards. When Genevive began creating wedding stationery and other personalised custom cards, she needed the Shopify site to match the style of these high-end items. (Unfortunately I can't take credit for the beautiful photos or the stunning designs of the cards themselves.)

This was my first time working with Shopify and I quite like the flexibility provided by its interface. Now I've worked with both Shopify and BigCommerce I understand the different strengths and benefits of each, to help point you in the right direction for your next eCommerce site.

  • Sally Foundation Web Design
    Type:
    Responsive Wordpress
    Year:
    2016
    URL:
    sallyfoundation.org.au

The Sally Foundation is a private philanthropic organisation in Australia. They support community causes in both regional Australia and Zimbabwe, Africa, providing me with a challenge on how to structure the site to suit both areas of interest.

They are working on some very interesting and worthwhile projects so check them out and get involved if you can.

  • Physio @ Neutral Bay Web Design
    Type:
    Responsive HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2015
    URL:
    physioneutralbay.com.au

The Physio @ Neutral Bay website is a small site to help people find a great local phsyiotherapist easily, and be able to make an appointment, whether they are using a desktop device or a mobile one. As Jenny so succinctly described her target market: "If they're in pain, all they want is relief. Quickly."

Jenny is a very experienced physio who divides her time between the Sydney lower North Shore and remote outback towns, spending 2 days per week travelling with the Royal Flying Doctor Service out of Bourke. I can personally vouch for her pain-relieving hands.

  • Hills Numerology website design
    Type:
    Responsive Wordpress
    Year:
    2015
    URL:
    hillsnumerology.com.au

The Hills Numerology website was created with the responsive Wordpress theme Avada. It provides the client with a Fusion Builder backend for plenty of options presented in an easy to understand way.

Tracey from Hills Numerology can unlock the interesting meaning behind all sorts of numbers relevant to your life. With this design we aimed to portray her bright, sunny character and celebratory approach to life.

  • Pizzazz Jewellery Online Store
    Type:
    BigCommerce
    Year:
    2015
    URL:
    pizzazzjewellery.com.au

The Pizzazz Jewellery website was a redesign of a 'failed' ecommerce site that had been built on an unmanageable DIY platform. Once we worked out that the cost of a BigCommerce site was commensurate with the old one and its addons, business owner Perin was happy to make the move.

Pizzazz Jewellery sells gorgeous wholesale fashion jewellery that is sourced from overseas. Her new BigCommerce site is set to only show prices and enable orders for approved wholesale buyers. It integrates with Mailchimp to keep clients updated on the latest fashions and sale events.

  • A Grade Carpentry Website Rescue
    Type:
    Responsive HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2015
    URL:
    agradecarpentry.com.au

The A Grade Carpentry Group's website had 'disappeared' by accident. They asked me to find the details of the original site and bring it back to life, on a tight budget. I recreated the site, with all-new up-to-date code and some added flare. I also made the new site responsive to be easier to use on mobile.

A Grade Carpentry Group produce quality carpentry work on home renovations in their home town Mosman as well as the lower North Shore and Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

  • Pillion Passion blog design
    Type:
    Responsive Wordpress
    Year:
    2014
    URL:
    pillionpassion.com

The Pillion Passion blog was built with a responsive Wordpress theme from StudioPress. I enjoy working with their Genesis framework, which starts very clean and allows my client and I to add only what's necessary.

This rider's blog is an evolving passion and hence she'll appreciate being able to add to this base over time.

  • Moon Electrical Web Design
    Type:
    Fluid HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2014
    URL:
    moonelectrical.com.au

The Moon Electrical website was a simple brochure site to showcase some of Nick Mooney's beautiful lighting installations. For a busy tradesman, I actually talked him out of using a Content Management System, as he has enough on his plate without having to work out how to update his website as well.

Nick is an in-demand electrician around Sydney for his attention to detail and careful approach to installing delicate and modern light fittings, even in tricky locations. I'll be adding more photos of his work - when he gets time to send them through!

  • The Salt Spot Newsletter
    Type:
    Mailchimp, responsive
    Year:
    2014

Penny from The Salt Spot at Neutral Bay sends a quarterly email newsletter, highlighting new products and services, and useful advice for the 4 seasons.

  • Fine Invitations Web Design
    Type:
    Built on the MODx CMS
    Year:
    2014
    URL:
    fineinvitations.com.au

Update: in 2017 this website changed to a DIY Wordpress version without involvement from RHD. The Fine Invitations website was a complete revamp of their comprehensive but outdated site. They required a Content Management System to enable them to add new products and services, and to update the photo gallery to showcase their wedding invitation designs.

Martin and Alison create simple, elegant printed stationery for weddings and other occasions and events. They print onsite, allowing them quick turnaround and good pricing. See them for all your stationery needs. They'll take the stress out of organising this crucial aspect of your big event.

  • Always Beans Web Design
    Type:
    Fluid HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2013
    URL:
    alwaysbeans.com.au

The alwaysbeans website was a fun little project, injecting some lightheartedness to a normally serious business. It was built on pure HTML and CSS, with a semi-fluid layout.

Connie from alwaysbeans is a small business bookkeeper with years of experience who has some special skills in making debt collection a mostly pleasant procedure for all concerned.

  • Building Works Australia Web Redesign
    Type:
    Built on the MODx CMS
    Year:
    2013
    URL:
    buildingworksaust.com.au

The Building Works Australia website was a complete rebuild of their existing site. This time it was created on a full Content Management System, allowing them to add their own blog posts, create before-and-after images, and manage and update several photo galleries.

Building Works Australia is proudly Australian and family-owned. With 40 years of experience, they have been operating in Sydney since 2000 (previously in Queensland), performing high quality building and renovations for homes and commercial properties.

Glow & Grace is a blissful beauty salon in the midst of busy Spit Junction at Mosman. They provide a full range of services - facials, massages, tanning, waxing, manicures and pedicures. I can personally recommend them, especially for the quality of their massage treatments.

  • Fix It Guys Canberra Web Design
    Type:
    HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2011
    URL:
    fixitguys.com.au

The Fix It Guys website was a revamp of an old site done-by-a-friend-of-the-owner. It was built on pure HTML and CSS, with a fixed layout. It incorporates their main requirement of a Photo Gallery that they can update themselves. It has also been integrated with a Wordpress blog.

Damien from Fix It Guys runs a team of building and maintenance trades in Canberra.

  • Pacha - Web Design
    Type:
    HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2011
    URL:
    pacha.net.au

Pacha is a prized yacht. Her Sydney owner was looking for an informative website that showcased the beauty and history of this stunning vessel, which was up for sale at the time.

This website is one for yachting enthusiasts, obviously… But it was fun to work on and piqued my interest in sailing!

  • Right Hand Design - the original
    Type:
    HTML & CSS
    Year:
    2010

I had to include this one for posterity. This is the first official website I ever built (after the ones created in university). I stuck with the base design for 5 years, just adding pages and the occasional tweak. May it live on in the Wayback Machine forever…
